I've been catching up on Substack and wondered what you were up to and wow! Cape Cod--what a change! Your list of what you'll miss is too lovely that I can't read it, having left MT and my home of 50 years only a couple of years ago. Good luck in your new location--you'll come to love it, I'm confident!
Such a beautiful listing, covering memory flashes with the senses and emotions they ignite. You may end up thousands of miles away from your mountain life, but this strong a tether will never break. Thanks for sharing!
Nice. I have a friend in Cape Cod. She writes newsletters for businesses. I think she does real estate too. Let me know if you would like to connect with her.
ha, I wonder if she knows our realtor out there (in Falmouth). It's such a small world. I'm hoping the writing community there is as vibrant as I've heard.
Oh, goodness! We know all sorts of people at WHOI - I did some of my grad work there. It's a beautiful place but really different from here. Safe journey and keep in touch!!
Other than moving to a big city, it's about as different as you can get! Will is working as a research engineer in the National Deep Submergence Lab - do you know anyone still there?
Very cool! I'll mention those names to Will. He'll be writing software for Alvin, as well as for the ROV & the autonomous submersibles (Jason and Sentinel, I think).
So, lots of beaches to walk and seafood that must be eaten fresh - what torture that must be! All the best to you on your relocation - instead of being in a place where 'a river runs through it', you'll be in a place where 'the river runs to it ...
Beautiful and moving, Wendy. Did I miss that you're moving? Where to? Is this permanent? I feel your pain of loss, and I hope there is also a lot of hope for the future.

Well, you did it and seem to have come through fine, so I know I will, too. Thanks for the support!

I do hope you're right, Janet. Thank you so much for reading & commenting!
Beautiful. And you’re a poet too! 🥰
Where is your next adventure?
Thanks so much! We're leaving the mountains and heading to Cape Cod, MA.

I think there is a vibrant writing community there. Definitely in Boston.
I love you Wendy.... would do anything for you...
Likewise, Suzy!
This is, like everything you write, so beautiful, heartfelt and vivid. You make me FEEL - the point of good writing IMO. Hugs.
Thanks, Suzy! Your support is getting me through this little chapter of my life.
If only I could do more. ❤️❤️
You're doing plenty just by being here, every day.
Have a safe journey and discover new treasures.
Thanks so much! I hope to.
Oh, no! You're leaving us??
Sadly, yes. Hubby got dream job at WHOI on Cape Cod.

We sure do - Dan Fornari and his wife are some of our oldest and dearest friends. Many others as well. Both Jeff and I dove in ALVIN.

Such a small world!!! Please keep in touch! BTW, CL Fornari, Dan's wife, is an amazing master gardener.
Oh my - WOW, that's big news! Where are you going? ... and are you walking the whole way?
haha - definitely not walking! Moving from Missoula MT to Cape Cod MA.

That's a great way to think of it!
