As with every post you make, your analogies, and clear, precise writing hit home. Aside from writing, I sure wish I lived near you so you could help train Echo. I'd love to channel her drive for sure! And I love how clear it is that Ozzie's drive is so different. I know... this is about writing, not dog training. If only that one special agent loved my drive. lol.
Wendy - lots of meat on that bone. I'm seeing an alignment in my work - working with 168 agents in our real estate brokerage firm; if I had four columns to tick/score alongside our roster, I'm quite sure the we have a handful of #2s, 'too many #3s' we need to bring back to earth and we could never have enough #4s . Have you ever taken your 'lessons learned with dogs' into the 'human training' arena? There are a lot of parallels methinks. Cheers, Mark .... p.s. I signed up for a 'horse training' seminar for HR folks a few years ago. I'm not in HR so much as I know the trainer and had heard many good things about her course. I spent a day, $500, and learned the challenges of managing and maneuvering a stubborn 1,000 lb. horse with a rope attached to it's halter. I led him, turned him, backed him up and gave him lots of carrots. ... still, I've never sat a horse in my life, but I Iearned a lot that about moving people when you don't speak their language they don't speak mine,
It's something I pretty much never stop thinking about. Thanks for reading, Jim!
Love this ongoing analogy. 🩷
