I always remember sitting with a longtime friend over a couple of beers and him telling me this very long story about a book he was writing involving a terrorist attack on an oil rig. (He once worked on an oil rig.) His story was fascinating and backed by his personal expertise. When he finished, I asked him how many pages he had written so far, and his answer was "two." That's where the 99% fit in. 😀
I love your metaphors; dog training- writing. The treats are definitely the best part when completing a writing goal. And it's so important to celebrate it too! Though sometimes I need the piece of chocolate to get me going. Hehehe.
Right now, we only have one cat. But if we ever get a dog again, I'm going to remember this. I also agree that 99% of people don't have the patience it takes to train their dogs properly and/or finish a novel. But man, that 1% is sure churning novels out.

Think of all those incredible experiences that never make it into print!
❤️❤️❤️❤️🤣🤣🤣 I think Tock is.
I love this, of course. You knew I would. Both the dog part, and the writing part. ❤️
I think you are my Muse!

I can't get through a day without it. But I have to write to feel like I deserve it!
I like your comparison to training the dog to training yourself--bit by bit and on from there. And as a dog lover I love the photos too!
Thanks for reading, Dorothy!
"Good writer. Have another biccie!" I have myself well trained. Hee!
I'm giving you a virtual pat on the back!
Hooray!

Yeah, once you know how to do it, it seems so much easier (though who am I kidding - writing a novel is never easy). Thanks for reading, Jim!
Cats can learn this way too!
They can indeed! I know a cat that was clicker trained to do all sorts of agility tricks.
