Oh my - what a great read, an authentic statement and a story that weaves the complexities of your life as a real-time tapestry. I'm so glad you wrote it. I'm so glad it greeted me this morning as one of the first things I saw. I am grateful!

Well ... I'm glad about that. I appreciate your writing, but I notice differences from time to time which catch my attention, as did your piece this morning. I wanted to write for two reasons: to show you that I appreciated the words and the massive message they convey for all to see, and in appreciation of your departure from your more typical columns. The second reason, to point out to you readers who might be speed-reading as we all often do that this piece of yours today ... not so much a happy or sale tale, but an absolutely genuine tale, deserves their attention!

First of all, I love the pictures of Tock. He is darling! And of course I love your writing. I love how you shape your sentences, and let the words flow and bubble over rocks and sticks (Sticks!) like an icy stream. And of course the message is exactly right. As always. ❤️

My day job has been a huge slice of my life. It has also been very satisfying most of the time. Not only did I get paychecks, but I also felt the gratification of crafting an elegant chunk of computer code. The one thing I won't miss is the relative inflexibility of the 9-to-5 work schedule with just three weeks of vacation per year.

Will "life" continue to get in the way of sitting down at the computer and building a new app? Probably. Life is just whatever thing I'm doing when I would rather be doing something else. I'll certainly try my best to be in the moment and just take enjoyment from whatever task is in front of me.

Well put. I guess there's always something we would rather be doing!

You are so right, Wendy. Everything we do during the day leads back to our "writing life"
